Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking to CBS, invited Trump to visit Ukraine before making decisions on peace plans. Zelensky urged, “See our people, our destroyed cities, then decide.” Meanwhile, the attack in Sumy by Russia received strong international condemnation.

In an interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made statements regarding the Russia-Ukraine War. Zelensky noted that Russia continues its attacks on civilians and urged, “Come, see, and then let’s move forward with a plan on how to end the war. You will understand who you are making agreements with. You will understand what Putin is doing.” Addressing US President Donald Trump, Zelensky invited him to Ukraine before deciding on the “peace plan,” saying, “Please, come and see our people, civilians, fighters, hospitals, churches, and destroyed children before any decision or negotiation.”

Zelensky stated, “Putin is not trustworthy. I have told President Trump this many times. If you ask why the ceasefire is not working, this is why. Putin never wanted the war to end. Putin never wanted us to be independent. Putin wants to totally destroy us.” IT WAS FILMED BEFORE THE SUMY ATTACK

The program was recorded before Russia’s attack in Sumy. The number of fatalities in the Sumy attack rose to 34, with 114 reported injured.

TRUMP: “IT WAS A HORRENDOUS ATTACK”

US President Trump described Russia’s Sumy attack as a “horrendous attack” and mentioned being told he made a mistake. Trump stated, “I think it was a horrendous attack, I was told that a mistake was made. But I think this war is all just a horrible thing.” CONDEMNATION FROM LEADERS

Following the attack, Friedrich Merz, who won in the German elections, condemned the attack, calling it a “serious war crime.” Merz stated, “It was a treacherous act, a serious war crime, intentional and planned.” French President Emmanuel Macron accused Russia of blatantly disregarding human life, international law, and President Trump’s diplomatic efforts. Macron said, “Strong measures are needed to impose a ceasefire on Russia. France is tirelessly working towards this goal with its partners.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the attack as “barbaric” and said, “Russia was clearly the aggressor, violating international law, and continues to be the aggressor.” Leyen emphasized the need for serious measures to achieve a ceasefire, stating, “Europe will continue to reach out to its partners and maintain strong pressure on Russia until the bloodshed stops and a fair and lasting peace according to Ukraine’s conditions is achieved.” UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed shock at Russia’s horrible attacks on civilians in Sumy.
