The US and Ukraine Departments of State met in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia yesterday. During the meeting, Ukraine expressed readiness to immediately implement a 30-day temporary ceasefire proposal. The ceasefire, extendable by mutual agreement of the parties, will be contingent on simultaneous implementation by Russia. The US also announced the immediate removal of restrictions on intelligence sharing with Kiev and the resumption of security assistance to Ukraine in the same statement.
The first reactions to the ceasefire plan came from US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenski. Noteworthy statements were also made by Russia.
