World Health Organization: Increased disease risk for displaced people in Lebanon

1 Mins Read

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of an increased disease risk for displaced people in Lebanon, revealing that 118,466 new displacements occurred between September 23-27.

With Israel’s attacks ongoing in Lebanon, the health system is facing a crisis.

The WHO, a United Nations agency, issued a warning about the increased disease risk for displaced people in Lebanon due to the attacks.

During the period of September 23-27, when Israel continued air strikes on Beirut and other locations in Lebanon, leading to 118,466 new displacements, the WHO published a situation report.

The United Nations Refugee Agency also announced this morning that 100,000 Syrians have migrated from Lebanon to Syria.

WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris mentioned on September 27 that the casualties caused by the attacks were far beyond what was expected.

Harris reported that due to the attacks, 11 health facilities in southern Lebanon were closed, and an additional 26 facilities in the rest of the country were no longer operational.
