Another war crime has been added to Israel’s atrocities. It has been exposed that Palestinian healthcare workers killed in Gaza had their hands tied. A doctor who witnessed their bodies reported that his colleagues had “seemed to be executed” with serious gunshot wounds to the head and chest. It was also indicated that ambulances were buried in the sand by bulldozers in an attempt to cover up the murders.
New details have emerged about 15 Palestinian healthcare workers killed by Israeli forces and buried in a mass grave nine days ago in Gaza. According to eyewitnesses speaking to The Guardian newspaper, some of the healthcare workers were tied up at the time of their killing, with their hands or legs bound. Additionally, they had gunshot wounds on their heads and chests. Witness accounts add another piece of evidence pointing to a serious war crime.
BODIES DISCOVERED ONE AFTER ANOTHER
Red Crescent ambulance teams and civil defense rescue workers were allowed to enter Rafah, the southernmost part of Gaza, on March 23. On Saturday, a body of a healthcare worker was found.
On Sunday, fourteen more bodies were discovered in a sandy grave in the area and taken to the nearby city of Khan Younis for autopsies.
“TIED UP BEFORE BEING KILLED”
Dr. Ahmed el-Farra from Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis had the opportunity to examine some of the bodies.
Farra said, “I saw three bodies as they were being transferred to Nasser Hospital. They had gunshot wounds in their heads and chests. They were executed. Their hands were tied up. They tied them in a way they couldn’t move, then they killed them.”
AMBULANCES WERE BURIED IN SAND TOO
It is estimated that the victims were killed on March 23. The United Nations reported that ambulances and other vehicles were buried in the sand by bulldozers, appearing to be an attempt to cover up the killings. Another witness, who requested not to use their name for security reasons, spoke to The Guardian in a phone interview, saying, “When we found the bodies in the mass grave, I saw them with my own eyes. There were multiple gunshot wounds in their chests. One had their legs tied up. One was shot in the head. They were executed.” The incident occurred after the Israeli government ended a two-month ceasefire and resumed the military operation on March 17 with intense aerial bombardments and ground operations.
