1 Mins Read

According to reports in the Israeli press, details of the ceasefire proposal previously conveyed to the parties by Egypt, one of the negotiators of ceasefire and prisoner exchange talks in Gaza, have been revealed. Egypt has proposed a ceasefire of 70 days and the release of 2,500 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of 9 Israeli prisoners and ending the attacks on the Gaza Strip under Israeli bombings. The offer entails Hamas releasing 9 Israeli prisoners, including the dual US-Israeli citizen Idan Alexander, and handing over the bodies of 2 dual US-Israeli citizen prisoners. In return for the release of the Israeli prisoners held in Gaza, Israel is required to release a total of 2,500 Palestinian prisoners held in its prisons and cease its attacks on Gaza for 70 days. It was reported that out of the Palestinian prisoners Israel would need to release if the terms were agreed upon, 2,200 are detained in Gaza and 150 have been sentenced to life imprisonment. As of now, there has been no official statement made regarding the new ceasefire proposal allegedly sent to the parties by Egypt. It had been reported that Egypt had presented a new offer to Israel and Hamas.
