Last year, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic Day, a one-time 5000 TL bonus was granted to retirees, adding to the total of 11,000 TL for last year’s Ramadan, Eid al-Adha, and Republic Day bonuses. So, will retirees receive a 29th of October bonus this year? The Mamak Branch President of the Turkey Retirees Association (TÜED), Murat Tokgöz, expressed a desire for the continuation of the bonus given to retirees last year in honor of the Republic’s 100th anniversary.Tokgöz, in a written statement, recalled that last year’s 100th anniversary of the Republic was celebrated with enthusiasm throughout the country, emphasizing that a one-time payment of 5,000 TL was made to retirees as part of the anniversary. Pointing out that the payment helped many retirees meet their needs, Tokgöz stated:”Thanks to the 5,000 TL payment made last year on Republic Day, many retirees entered winter with an additional amount of money in hand. We request that the bonus given to retirees in honor of the Republic’s 100th anniversary, under the name of ‘Republic Day Bonus,’ should be given every year in a sum equivalent to one month’s salary. This practice will greatly please millions of our retirees and contribute to them celebrating the Republic Day with even more enthusiasm.”Approximately 17 million retirees receive bonuses twice a year on both Ramadan and Eid al-Adha.Workers and retirees covered by the Social Security Institution (SSK), Bağ-Kur, and the Pension Fund received bonus payments for the third time last year in honor of the Republic’s 100th anniversary. It is currently unknown whether the adjustment made last year by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance will be repeated this year.If the adjustment is made, it is estimated that it will be announced to the public before the Republic Day on the 29th of October. In 2025, SSK, Bağ-Kur, and Pension Fund retirees will receive bonus payments on both Ramadan and Eid al-Adha. The amount of the bonuses for the year 2025, previously set at 3000 TL, has not yet been announced.Bonuses for holidays are typically transferred to accounts by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security about a week before the holiday.
