White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated, “France owes not speaking German right now entirely to the US.”
Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, strongly reacted to French politician Raphael Glucksmann’s remarks demanding the return of the Statue of Liberty from the US.
Leavitt said, “My advice to the unnamed, low-level French politician is to remember that France owes not speaking German right now entirely to the United States. Therefore, they should be grateful to our great nation.”
Leavitt also used the statement, “France owes not speaking German right now entirely to the US.”
WHAT HAPPENED?
Glucksmann had said, “Give us back the Statue of Liberty. To the Americans who choose to stand with the oppressors, to the Americans who dismiss researchers demanding scientific freedom, we will say: ‘Give us back the Statue of Liberty.'”
In 1884, France gifted the Statue of Liberty to the US to commemorate the alliance between the two countries. The statue was dismantled and transported with the French Navy ship Isère.
The construction of the entire structure was completed in 1886. The statue, located in New York, has since become a symbol of freedom and the United States.
