Here is the latest update on the 2025 minimum wage increase… WHEN WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE BE ANNOUNCED? Millions of workers are curious about how much their wages will increase. As the year-end approaches, expectations regarding the minimum wage increase are starting to take shape. It is expected that the first meeting of the minimum wage commission will take place in December. Towards the end of December, the current 2025 minimum wage rate will become clear. HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE BE? Economists are divided on the issue of the minimum wage increase. The debate has been going on for some time on whether the minimum wage increase should be based on the year-end inflation or the target inflation. Some economists argue that the minimum wage increase could be over 30 percent. Among the predictions is also that the private sector’s increase rate will be around 20 percent. The minimum wage was increased by 49.11 percent in January of last year, reaching 17,002 liras. If the increase reaches the inflation target of 41.5 percent as stated in the Medium-Term Program (OVP), it will exceed 24,000 liras. If an increase of 17.5 percent is made in line with the 2025 inflation target in the OVP, it will rise to 19,975 liras. If an increase of 38 percent, the Central Bank’s target rate, is made, it will reach 23,460 liras. If an increase of 14 percent, the TCMB’s target for 2025, is made, it will reach 19,380 liras. If an increase of 21 percent, the upper band for 2025, is made, it will reach 20,570 liras. If the minimum wage receives a 30 percent increase, it will rise to 22,102 liras. If a 40 percent increase is made, the new minimum wage will reach 23,802 liras. If the market expectations of a 45 percent increase are met, it will be 24,650 liras.
