When will the FED interest rate decision be announced?

Following the recent tariff move towards China by the US administration, global markets now turn their attention to the interest rate decision. The Federal Reserve (FED) had previously kept the policy interest rate unchanged at 4.25-4.50 percent. This controversial decision was made with an 11-1 vote. Those closely monitoring the economic agenda are now focused on the upcoming interest rate decision. So, when will the FED interest rate decision be announced? According to the decision announced by the Federal Reserve (FED) at the March meeting, there will be no changes in the policy interest rate, keeping it steady at 4.25-4.50 percent. As per the Monetary Policy Committee calendar, there will be no meeting held in the month of April. The US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision will be announced on May 7th at 22:00 after the meeting scheduled for May 6-7. Revealing predictions about the economy, the Fed kept its forecast for the federal funds rate at 3.9 percent at the end of the year 2021, the same as it was in December last year. Regarding the federal funds rate forecasts for 2026 and 2027 and the long-term average interest rate expectation, they were left at 3.4 percent, 3.1 percent, and 3 percent, respectively. These predictions indicated that the Fed continues to anticipate two interest rate cuts in 2025. Inflation forecasts excluding volatile energy and food prices were revised up from 2.5 percent to 2.7 percent for this year, kept at 2.2 percent for 2026, and maintained at 2 percent for 2027. Core inflation estimates are revised from 2.5 percent to 2.8 percent for this year, while staying at 2.2 percent for 2026 and 2 percent for 2027. The growth forecast for the US economy was lowered from 2.1 percent to 1.7 percent for this year, from 2 percent to 1.8 percent for the next year, and from 1.9 percent to 1.8 percent for 2027. Unemployment rate estimates remain at 4.3 percent for this year, next year, and 2027.
