Water crisis in Gaza: Israel cuts off electricity to water purification plant

1 Mins Read

Israel has cut off electricity to the water purification plant in Gaza. This has made the already existing water shortage in Gaza even worse for the locals.

With Israel stopping aid and cutting off electricity, the humanitarian conditions in Gaza, which were already difficult, have deteriorated further. Since the beginning of the conflict, Gaza has not received enough electricity. Israel took another step to persuade Hamas to release the hostages.

RECORD DROP IN WATER PRODUCTION The electricity to the seawater purification plant in Deir El Balah was also cut off. The plant has started operating with generators, but water production has dropped from 18,000 cubic meters per day to 2,000 cubic meters. There are concerns about the water shortage worsening in Gaza.

ENTIRE POPULATION IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE The United Nations warns that the cessation of aid will have devastating effects on the people of Gaza.

Almost the entire population of 2.3 million in Gaza is in need of assistance.
