2 Mins Read

During the Ukraine meeting organized in the UK with the participation of world leaders, UK Prime Minister Starmer mentioned that Putin will have to come to the table sooner or later. Addressing world leaders, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on them to compel Russian President Vladimir Putin to sit at the table for a ceasefire in Ukraine. Speaking at the opening of the online meeting where world leaders convened and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also participated, Starmer referred to the talks between Ukraine and the USA in Saudi Arabia. Starmer noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s commitment to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire showed his country’s preference for peace. However, the Prime Minister also mentioned that Putin is “trying to play for time” and added that if Putin is serious about peace, he needs to stop the barbaric attacks on Ukraine and accept a ceasefire. Starmer emphasized the need to strengthen Ukraine’s defense with funding and other support for peace to be established and said that Putin will have to sit at the table sooner or later.
