Warning from Experts about Dangerous Tire Retreading in Traffic!

2 Mins Read

Following inspections, the Ministry of Industry and Technology had decided to recall some products posing safety risks from the market. Among them are nine tire retreading companies. Experts are cautioning that retreaded tires can be a danger in traffic.

Worn-out tires are renewed through retreading. A retreaded tire can be reused without losing any of its performance. They are commonly preferred in trucks and passenger buses due to being cost-effective. However, experts believe that this preference could pose a danger. Automotive writer Turgut Yüksekdağ stated, “I think this is not the type of tire that should be used in vehicles such as buses and heavy vehicles providing towing power to the wheels. Because tires are the objects that connect us to the road as much as the palm of the hand connects us to the road. Therefore, they always need to be tires with the necessary tread depths at the highest level.”

“SHOULD NOT BE USED IN BUSES”

Yüksekdağ also pointed out that even if retreaded tires are to be used despite all risks, certain precautions should still be taken. He said, “There are some regulations in place legally for this, but especially it should not be used in buses. It should definitely not be used in the front tires providing towing power in trucks. They can be used in the rear parts, on trailers, etc. But they should be prepared in places where the necessary certifications are provided.” In the first quarter of the year, the Ministry of Industry and Technology conducted inspections and decided to recall the products of some brands that do not comply with technical regulations and pose safety risks from the market. Among them are nine tire retreading companies.
