President of the Central Black Sea Auto Services Association (OKSED), Fatih Özkan, stated that drivers are being contacted from different numbers after accidents and warned to “be cautious of those requesting delegation after traffic accidents. Only entrust your delegation to a lawyer you trust.”

Following the entry of the accident report held in the system after the accidents into the registry, some lawyers or individuals claiming to be lawyers are calling drivers involved in traffic accidents to request delegation.

Some drivers, still shocked by the accident, may give delegation and even pay a fee without much thought. The individuals calling are persuading them to acquire delegations, subsequently obtaining unfair gains. Some drivers involved in accidents blame the auto services they visit, saying, “Why did you give my number to different companies?” showing disapproval towards the auto services. “AUTO SERVICES ARE IN A VERY TROUBLESOME SITUATION IN THIS REGARD”

President Özkan, claiming that the service is being targeted by car owners, said, “When two drivers have an accident, after the report drops into the system for the faulty and the blameless in question, law firms start calling.
Under the guise of a damage repair center, vehicle owners are being contacted. Even to drivers who are not at fault, they ask for delegation by saying ‘You are right.’

If the owner does not want to give delegation, offensive language might be used. They should only entrust their delegations to lawyers they trust. In this regard, car owners criticize us by saying ‘Why did you give my phone number to different companies?’ Auto services are also in a very troublesome situation in this regard.”

President Özkan stated, “I hit you, I came. In Turkey, we have a registered, non-police, agreed report. With this report, you will go to the service as a rightful owner. You feel justified. When you go to the service, an expert is called. After the expert arrives, it is entered into the system. After it is entered into the system, the adventure begins.

Customers are in for a tough process here. We strongly advise customers to be very vigilant. Even those deemed at fault in an accident are being told ‘you are right’ when called. There is insistence until delegation is given.”
