3 Mins Read

Vodafone, having completed the infrastructure setup at the Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium, will bring users together with the 5G experience during the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby on March 29th. Users with 5G-supported phones will be able to access services through the new infrastructure.

Operating with a vision to lead Turkey’s digitalization, Vodafone continuously maintains its preparations on the path to 5G.

In this regard, Vodafone, having finalized the 5G setup for the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby to be played at the Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium on March 29th, has begun emitting 5G signals throughout the stadium.

Users with 5G-supported devices who enable 5G from their device’s network settings and grant service permission will be able to access services through the new infrastructure. Engin Aksoy, CEO of Vodafone Turkey, stated, “We continue our 5G readiness efforts in collaboration with public authorities. As mobile operators, we are bringing 5G technology to football fans through the stadiums of our four major clubs in this stage of the process that began at Istanbul Airport. We will also provide 5G signals during the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby at the Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium on March 29th. Users with 5G-supported phones who enable 5G from their device’s network settings and grant service permission can experience this technology. The number of subscribers experiencing 5G services increases every day, and the expansion of such experiential areas is beneficial for 5G preparations. Users can access details about 5G-supported phones from operators’ websites.”

“3 years ago, we conducted Turkey’s first stadium concert with a 5G test signal.” Aksoy, emphasizing their long-standing work in the 5G field, stated, “5G will unlock unprecedented levels of productivity with its speed and capacity and reduce latency to provide significant benefits to both individuals and the industrial environment.

Implemented in 14 countries so far

Benefiting from Vodafone Group’s global experience, which has implemented this technology in 14 countries, we have been working for a long time to bring 5G to the service of institutions and individuals in our country.

In this context, we conducted a pilot study in Customized Mobile Network at Tofaş. Today, Tofaş benefits from this local network solution to connect people and objects in an area of approximately 1 million square meters. At MEXT, the most comprehensive digital transformation and competence development center in the world, established by the Turkish Metal Industries Association, we completed Turkey’s first 5G Customized Mobile Network setup.

“We are happy to bring the speed and quality of 5G to football fields”

Three years ago, we conducted Turkey’s first stadium concert with a 5G test signal. Last season, we enhanced the visualization experience of volleyball spectators both in the hall and in front of the screen using the 5G-supported Şahin Gözü system during the Vodafone Sultanlar League play-off final series. We established 5G in the Antalya Sports Hall during the Volleyball Nations League, enabling instant statistics and measurements from the matches to be sent to other broadcasters worldwide via 5G.

This season, we are using the 5G-supported Şahin Gözü system at the Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall during the regular season matches and the Play-Off 1-4 Round matches. We are pleased to bring the speed and quality of 5G to football fields after volleyball.”
