Reports indicate that the Chief of Staff of France and the UK will visit the Ukrainian capital Kiev today. According to the French newspaper Le Monde, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot and UK Foreign Minister David Lammy held a joint press conference at NATO’s headquarters in Brussels as part of the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting. Barrot commented on the Russia-Ukraine War, stating that “Even if peace is eventually achieved, military capacity or assurance will still be needed. Therefore, our Chief of Staff will be in Kiev today to make progress in this effort.” Barrot also highlighted Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure over the past three weeks, claiming that Moscow continues to commit “war crimes.” Barrot and Lammy accused Russia of sabotaging the peace efforts of the United States. It is expected that during the visit of the Chief of Staff of France and the UK to Kiev, they will discuss security guarantees for Ukraine in case of a ceasefire.
