Turkish students who were accepted to Italian universities but were unable to obtain a visa continue their legal battle to benefit from this right. Italian courts have ruled in favor of 10 Turkish students.
Despite being accepted for undergraduate or graduate studies at Italian universities, nearly a thousand Turkish students faced visa difficulties. The rejection letters given to students’ applications cited reasons such as “risk of asylum”, “financial insufficiency”, or “unreliable financial status”.
Since starting their legal battle in November, students have begun to receive initial decisions regarding the lawsuits they filed against Italian courts. A court in Rome ruled that the students who filed a lawsuit against Italy due to the rejection of their study visa requests were in the right. According to Euronews Türkçe, so far, approximately 10 students have won their cases, and after receiving the court’s notification, visas were granted to 4 of them.
