Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz announced that the unemployment rate showed improvement beyond the Medium Term Program target, reaching 8.7% in 2024. Evaluating the labor force statistics for 2024 released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on his social media account, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz emphasized that while the labor force participation rate increased and unemployment decreased, the economy continued to generate employment. Yılmaz stated, “The unemployment rate decreased to 8.7% in 2024, reaching the lowest level since 2012, surpassing the Medium Term Program target. Our employment increased by approximately 1 million people, reaching 32.6 million in 2024.” Pointing out the increase in labor force participation among women and youth, Yılmaz expressed pleasure in the decrease in unemployment, saying, “We expect our economy to strengthen further with the continuing increase in employment, especially among women and youth. Safeguarding the welfare and purchasing power of our citizens, supporting our producers, and ensuring price stability are our top priorities. With the economic predictability we provide, political stability, and our investment, employment, production, and export-oriented approach, we are steadily progressing towards our macroeconomic targets in 2025. The future of Turkey will be bright with its strong economy and determined policies. Together, we will continue to work tirelessly day and night for a stronger, more prosperous Turkey.”
