US to Provide $300 Million in Humanitarian Aid for Gaza

2 Mins Read

The US government is expected to announce approximately $336 million in additional humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. According to a statement reported by Reuters, this funding will be used to provide much-needed humanitarian assistance in the region, including food aid, health, and nutrition.

The US news agency Reuters claimed that the US government is set to announce around $336 million in additional humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. The funds, first announced by Reuters, are intended to provide humanitarian assistance in the region, including food aid, health, nutrition, and other essential services. The statement mentioned that the funding will also provide urgent shelter assistance to displaced Gazans ahead of the winter months. “WAR HAS COST INNOCENT LIVES” The US Agency for International Development stated, “This war has cost innocent Palestinians their lives. It has left Gaza and the West Bank in a severe humanitarian crisis and in desperate need. The US continues to call on all parties to accept an agreement for a ceasefire, release hostages, and allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.” Since the conflict began on October 7, the Israeli military has destroyed much of the besieged Palestinian territory, displacing nearly all 2.3 million people, causing deadly diseases, and resulting in the deaths of over 41,000 people. ACCESS OBSTACLES AND INSECURITY The US, along with Qatar and Egypt, have been attempting to mediate talks that have stalled for months regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages. A USAID spokesperson stated that agency partners are continuing to deliver aid to the people in Gaza, but challenges such as access obstacles and insecurity hinder the scaling of necessary aid to meet the needs of the 2.3 million people in Gaza who urgently require humanitarian assistance. The UN has long complained about the barriers to delivering aid to Gaza during the conflict and carrying out aid distribution in a “complete climate of lawlessness” in the besieged area. Over 300 humanitarian aid workers, most of them UN personnel, were killed during the conflict.
