US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that they have initiated efforts to cancel visas for South Sudanese citizens.
Accusing the South Sudan government of ‘taking advantage of the United States,’ Marco Rubio stated that they have taken action to cancel visas for holders of South Sudanese passports. The US Department of State released Rubio’s statement on the matter.
The statement emphasized the critical importance of enforcing the country’s immigration laws for the national security and public safety of the United States. It was noted that when a country, including the US, deports citizens of another country, they should accept the timely return of their citizens. Pointing out that South Sudan does not comply with this principle, the statement highlighted that additional measures have been taken to cancel all visas for South Sudan passport holders and prevent their entry into the United States.
