Following pressure from the US administration, the Israeli government announced that it had allowed the entry of 50 trucks of humanitarian aid into the northern Gaza Strip. The US government had stated that they wanted Israel to take action within 30 days to “improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza”.

An announcement from the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Palestinian Territories (COGAT) under the Israeli army stated that 50 trucks of humanitarian aid from Jordan were sent to the north of Gaza. It was mentioned that the humanitarian aid allowed to cross into northern Gaza included food, water, health supplies, and shelter materials.

FIRST HUMANITARIAN AID SENT IN OCTOBER According to the United Nations (UN), Israel had not allowed humanitarian aid to pass into the north of Gaza since October 1. This was the first humanitarian aid sent to the north of Gaza in October when Israel continued its intense attacks and approximately 400,000 people were trapped in Gaza. The slight allowance by Israel for humanitarian aid to enter northern Gaza came after pressure from the US administration on Tel Aviv.

30-DAY ULTIMATUM The US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller stated in an announcement yesterday that they had asked the Israeli government to take action within 30 days to “improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza”. Additionally, it was revealed that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had written a letter to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer expressing concerns about the levels of humanitarian aid reaching Gaza.
