Technology billionaire Elon Musk is doing everything to help former president Donald Trump win the US elections. Experts say that aside from Trump, Musk, who is the richest person in the world, is the “number one source spreading misinformation about the US elections.” However, it remains uncertain how convincing Musk is at persuading undecided voters. According to a recent poll, Musk’s net approval rating is minus 11. An analysis by The Times suggests that Elon Musk is doing everything to help Trump win the US elections. Experts claim that aside from former president Donald Trump, Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual in the world, is the “number one source spreading misinformation about the US elections.” If former US President Donald Trump returns to the White House next month, he plans to create a new position: the Department of Cost Reduction. In an interview with Fox News, the former president stated, “Elon wants to do this.” This further solidified the idea that the world’s richest individual is a crucial piece in getting Trump elected. Musk declared his support for Trump in the presidential race approximately three months ago. Campaign finance reports revealed that the 53-year-old Elon Musk poured millions of dollars into efforts to defeat Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. The billionaire, who owns social media platform X, also reshaped the media landscape of this election. $45 MILLION IN MONTHLY SUPPORT In May, in collaboration with other wealthy business people, Musk established a funding mechanism called America Pac to support Trump’s election campaign. The Pac offers $47 to convince individuals to sign a petition supporting free speech and the right to carry firearms. The fundraising group spends up to $45 million per month on causes that endorse Trump’s candidacy for the White House. Musk’s formal support for Trump came shortly after the former president survived his first assassination attempt. On July 13, Musk wrote on social media platform X, “I wholeheartedly support President Trump and hope for his swift recovery.”
“NUMBER ONE SOURCE OF MISINFORMATION” Rick Hasen, a law professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, and director of the Democracy Protection Project, stated, “His platform is used by millions of people, and Musk is probably the number one person spreading misinformation about the US elections. He may have the views he wants, but spreading misinformation will weaken American democracy further. The issue is not whom he supports for the presidency, but that he spreads misinformation about American elections.” The Pew Research think tank claims that since Musk acquired X, his support for Republicans has increased. MUSK’S NET APPROVAL RATING IS MINUS 11 However, according to AdImpact, a company that tracks advertising trends, besides X, where Republicans have bought three times more ad space, Democrats are spending more on social media ads than their competitors. The extent of Musk’s ability to persuade undecided voters remains uncertain. According to a recent survey, Musk’s net approval rating is minus 11.
