Updated List of Food Adulteration Revealed: Offal in Meatballs, Poultry Meat in Lahmacun Identified (Ministry Announced Company Names)

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has renewed the list of counterfeit and adulterated foods. 35 new products have been added to the list. The names of restaurants operating in various cities were listed individually, including findings of offal in meatballs and poultry meat in lahmacun. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry updated the list of counterfeit and adulterated foods that could endanger health and shared this list with the public on the ministry’s website.
As a result, the number of products that have been identified as being altered and pose a danger to people’s lives and health has increased by 10 to reach 66. The number of products confirmed to be counterfeit and adulterated has also increased by 35 to 498.
The list includes inappropriate practices such as the presence of vegetable oil in products where it should not be and the addition of poultry meat to these products. Notable findings of counterfeit and adulteration are listed in the document. According to the Ministry’s findings, it was determined that tomato paste sold by a business in Hatay contained food coloring. Poultry meat was found in beef meatballs sold at a grill restaurant in Istanbul, and poultry meat was also found in beef-lamb meatballs sampled in Manisa. It was identified that there was poultry meat in the mixture used for lahmacun.
