In the Villa Gesell area of Buenos Aires, Argentina, a 10-story Dubrovnik Hotel collapsed yesterday morning due to construction work being carried out without proper permits.
Following the collapse, search and rescue teams immediately began working in the hotel debris, and it was reported that 1 person has been rescued so far. It was announced that as a result of the collapse in the hotel, where at least 15 people were staying, one person in their 80s lost their life.
Local authorities revealed that construction work in the hotel without appropriate permits was halted in August by the municipality’s order, while residents in the area claimed that work had continued. Argentine National Security Minister Patricia Bullrich announced that two expert teams have been dispatched to the scene.
FOUR ARRESTS
Javier Alonso, the Security Minister of Buenos Aires Province, stated that 4 wall builders working at the construction site were rescued from the collapse and detained by the police. Alonso indicated that initial information suggested that work was being carried out on the first floor of the hotel.
