In order to support the post-Assad recovery of Syria, the United Kingdom will provide up to 160 million pounds in humanitarian aid this year.
The 9th Brussels Conference, themed “Standing by Syria: Meeting the Needs for a Successful Transition,” is taking place today (March 17) in the capital of Belgium.
As part of the conference, the British government has pledged to provide up to 160 million pounds (7.6 billion Turkish lira) in humanitarian aid to support Syria’s recovery after Bashar al-Assad.
A statement from the UK Foreign Ministry mentioned that the country will “commit critical aid of up to 160 million pounds.”
The statement also included the following: “We will help provide critical assistance to Syrians in 2025, including water, food, healthcare, and education.”
The one-day meeting in Brussels, led by EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas, is focused on the reconstruction of Syria and aid to be sent to the country from Europe.
The meeting is attended by ministers and representatives from Syria’s regional neighbors, other Arab countries, and United Nations (UN) agencies.
