Two out of every three homes sold to foreigners in Antalya and Istanbul

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced that as of the end of September this year, 17,090 houses were sold to foreigners in Turkey, marking a sharp decline of 39% compared to the previous year. Antalya ranked first with 5,990 houses, followed by Istanbul with 5,979 houses. Antalya and Istanbul are the two most preferred cities in Turkey for real estate and living investments by foreigners. According to the September data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), two out of every three houses sold to foreigners in Turkey are located in these two cities. In the first nine months of this year, a total of 17,090 houses were sold to foreigners, showing a 39% decrease compared to the same period last year. The sharp decline that has been ongoing since the beginning of this year continued in September. Foreign house sales decreased by 31% in September compared to the same period last year, totaling 2,022. The share of sales to foreigners in total house sales in September was 1.4%. Antalya, particularly popular among Russians both for tourism and living purposes, takes the lead in house sales. One out of every three houses sold to foreigners in Turkey this year was in Antalya. Antalya topped the list in Turkey with a total of 5,990 houses sold during this period. There was a 43% decrease compared to last year when 10,372 houses were sold in Antalya during the same period. The second most preferred city for foreigners buying houses in Turkey, Istanbul, saw a total of 5,979 houses sold to foreigners in the first nine months this year. Istanbul experienced a 34% decrease compared to the same period last year. In September, the cities with the highest number of house sales to foreigners were Istanbul with 783, Antalya with 548, and Mersin with 210. The majority of house sales were made to Russian Federation citizens according to nationality. In September, the highest number of house sales by nationality were to Russian Federation with 346, Iran with 163, and Iraq with 139 citizens. As of the end of September, Russians who bought a total of 8,683 houses last year decreased to 3,635 this year.
