Two cement companies operating in Hatay were fined 618,937 lira for competition violations. The Competition Board decided to impose an administrative fine of 618,937 lira on two companies operating in the cement and ready-mix concrete sector in Hatay. An announcement published on the Competition Authority’s website stated that the investigation into certain enterprises operating in the cement and ready-mix concrete production and sales sector in Hatay had been concluded. During the investigation process, it was noted in the announcement that OYAK Cement Factories Inc., Kadir Soylu Beton Demir Construction Petroleum Products Ind. and Tic. Ltd. Sti., MM Tiftik Brothers Transportation Construction Real Estate Petroleum and Agricultural Products Marketing Ind. and Tic. Ltd. Sti., and Ekintaş Construction Industry and Trade Inc. had applied for reconciliation, and the Board had imposed an administrative fine of 110,564,108 lira on these enterprises. The announcement also highlighted that oral defenses were received from Ceyhan Ready-Mix Concrete Construction Transportation Mining Petroleum Products Trade Ltd. Sti., Çimko Cement and Concrete Industry Trade Inc., Filitoğlu Construction Petroleum Food Tourism Transportation and Trade Inc., and KÇS Kahramanmaraş Cement Concrete and Mining Enterprises Inc. in March. It was stated that Ceyhan Ready-Mix Concrete was found to have violated the law by engaging in customer allocation in the market, and Filitoğlu was found to have violated the law by participating in price-fixing and customer allocation agreements in the ready-mix concrete production and sales market. Accordingly, Ceyhan Ready-Mix Concrete was fined 515,861 lira and Filitoğlu was fined 103,076 lira. However, as no evidence of law violation was found for Çimko Cement and KÇS, it was decided that there was no basis for imposing administrative fines on these enterprises. Thus, a total of 618,937 lira in fines was imposed on the two companies in question.
