1 Mins Read

Allegations linking Argentine President Javier Milei to a cryptocurrency scandal have stirred up Congress. Disputes among opposition and ruling party members trying to initiate the impeachment process for Milei escalated into a physical altercation. The impeachment proceedings against Milei, who saw his promoted cryptocurrency plummet by 94%, were postponed due to the ruling party’s efforts.

JOURNALIST PROTEST OUTSIDE CONGRESS
Outside Congress, journalists staged a protest. Media professionals demonstrated in front of Congress in response to a photojournalist being severely injured while covering protests by retirees. Protesters hung their cameras on the iron bars of the Congress building as a form of protest. Pablo Grillo, the photojournalist, was critically injured and hospitalized after being hit by a gas canister during a security intervention as he covered the retirees’ demonstration. Press freedom organizations condemned the incident, calling for those responsible to be held accountable and for better protection of journalists.
