Turkish Labor Union Türk-İş Decides on Action at Treasury

Turkish Labor Union will hold a press conference in front of the Treasury and Ministry of Finance with these demands. The decision was made at the Turkish Labor Union’s Board of Presidents. In a statement released after the meeting, it was stated, “The living conditions of wage earners in our country are unbearable. The cost of living has reached an unprecedented level in forty years.” Measures to improve the living conditions of the majority of society, including workers, civil servants, and retirees with narrow and fixed incomes, were requested. It was also highlighted that the economic and social policies to be implemented should have a strong emphasis on labor. The statement said, “The cause of the economic crisis is not the workers and their wages. Those who try to make a living with their labor are not the cause but the victims of inflation.” Turkish Labor Union also called for the restructuring of development policies in a way that solves structural issues. They demanded an end to approaches that suppress the labor sector and make working conditions even more difficult. Turkish Labor Union will also organize a “Labor Gathering Rally” in Ankara as part of the “We are struggling, we cannot make ends meet” action program…
