According to the THY Press Office, the 12,000-year-old bread made from the first wheat grain of civilization was introduced on the “TK-3” flight from Istanbul to New York on September 22. The statement highlighted that the wheat was discovered through excavation work in the Taş Tepeler region. THY emphasized that the historical first bread reflects their effort to share Turkish culture and traditions by combining them with modern innovations.
The first bread reflecting Anatolian agricultural history was produced 12,000 years ago from domesticated wheat in the Taş Tepeler region. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the THY Board of Directors and Executive Committee, stated, “As the flag carrier airline offering guests the world’s best flavors and winning numerous awards in this field globally, we are pleased to introduce ‘business class’ passengers to the world’s oldest bread made from ancient wheat discovered in excavations in the Anatolian region. We aim to provide our guests with an experience of this essential food item specific to Turkish cuisine and significant in global gastronomic history. While maintaining our award-winning leadership in inflight meals, we hope that our guests will appreciate this new product.”
