According to information compiled from the Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters Association and the Turkey Exporters Assembly, in the January-March period, EU countries ranked first with a 72.6% share in Turkey’s automotive export.
The automotive sector’s export in the January-March period reached 9 billion 494 million 834 thousand dollars, a 4% increase from 9 billion 125 million 528 thousand dollars in the same period last year. During the first quarter, the automotive industry, exporting to more than 190 countries, autonomous, and free zones, realized 16.8% of Turkey’s total exports.
A 13% increase in automotive exports to EU countries was observed. When looked at by countries, EU countries ranked first with a 72.6% share in Turkey’s automotive export in the January-March period. The exports to EU countries in the first 3 months increased by 13% from 6 billion 110 million 387 thousand dollars to 6 billion 893 million 869 thousand dollars compared to the same period last year, maintaining their position as the most important market for automotive exports.
Approximately 1.5 billion dollars worth of exports were made to Germany, the main market for the automotive industry, in the first quarter of this year. The automotive export from Turkey to Germany, which was 1 billion 263 million 157 thousand dollars in the first 3 months of last year, was calculated at 1 billion 491 million 390 thousand dollars in the same period of this year, showing an 18% increase. The second-ranked France, another important market for the automotive sector, saw a 13% rise in export with 1 billion 102 million 509 thousand dollars in the first 3 months of this year.
