The crime solution proposed by Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump in the United States has been likened to the horror movie series The Purge. While one social media user wrote, “Trump is literally suggesting The Purge,” another claimed that the former president must have recently watched the movies.Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump in the United States became the subject of ridicule on the internet for proposing a crime solution resembling the horror movie series The Purge. During a rally held in Pennsylvania on Sunday, the former president argued that one way to decrease crime rates is to give the police a “tough hour” to address the issue and have fewer restrictions during that time.
Trump stated, “A tough hour, a really tough hour, the news will spread, and crimes will immediately stop.”Social media users wasted no time pointing out that The Purge is about a world where people can act without consequences for a short period of time. In The Purge movie, set in an America where crime has ravaged and prisons are overcrowded, the government approves a 12-hour period each year where all criminal activities, including murder, are legal. While one social media user wrote, “Trump is literally suggesting The Purge,” another claimed that the former president must have recently watched the movies.Social media users mocking Trump commented, saying, “He watched The Purge and said, ‘Look what I’ll say… We should try this’.” Others pointed out that one of the sequels was released in 2016, the year Trump was elected president, and was titled The Purge: Election Year.
One social media user wrote, “The Purge: Election Year was released in 2016. Trump stole the slogan in 2020 and the topic in 2024.”
