President Trump announced that programs containing “divisive rhetoric” and “inappropriate ideology” will be removed from the Smithsonian Institution. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to eliminate programs at the Smithsonian Institution that contain “divisive rhetoric” and “inappropriate ideology.” According to a statement from the White House, Trump signed the decree related to the Smithsonian Institution, which consists of institutions in several states in the country, including various museums, a national zoo, educational and research centers. Trump claimed that in the past 10 years, there have been attempts to rewrite American history by distorting objective facts with narratives influenced by ideologies. He stated that programs at the Smithsonian Institution containing “divisive rhetoric” and “inappropriate ideology” will be removed. Criticizing the activities of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Women’s History Museum, and the American Art Museum, Trump said, “The museums in our nation’s capital should be places where people go to learn, not places where our shared history is distorted by ideological indoctrination or divisive rhetoric.” Trump mentioned that Vice President J.D. Vance will inspect the institution and assigned him the task of overseeing the removal of “inappropriate ideology.” He also mentioned that Vance will check if the budget allocated by the White House for the Smithsonian Institution is being used for programs that “undermine the common values of Americans, promote programs and ideologies that racially divide Americans, and contradict federal laws and policies.”
