2 Mins Read

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in the final days of his term, held a press conference today and was overcome with tears. President Donald Trump of the United States has been mocking Trudeau for months, threatening to annex Canada as the 51st state, and addressing the prime minister as “Governor Trudeau.”

Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister in his final days in office, held a press conference. After enduring torment from President Donald Trump in the form of a trade war over customs duties, Trudeau broke down in tears during the conference.

CUSTOMS DUTY WARS The U.S. imposed a 25% customs duty on all goods imported from Mexico and Canada, dragging the country into a trade war. However, Trump suspended his decision shortly after it took effect.

Yesterday evening, he signed regulations exempting USMCA-compliant goods from customs duty tariffs on Mexico and Canada until April 2nd.

TRUMP HAS BEEN MOCKING FOR MONTHS Trump has been mocking Trudeau for months, threatening to annex Canada as the 51st state, and addressing the prime minister as “Governor Trudeau.” Trudeau, realizing he may not win the next election and may have to resign, is trying to go on a sort of victory lap. He mentioned that he clearly saw the end of the road and was moved during a press conference on child health organized in Ottawa.

“PUT CANADIANS FIRST” The emotional Prime Minister began to cry and said, “Every day I’ve been in this office, I’ve put Canadians first. That’s why I’m here to tell you that even in the final days of this government, we stand by you and won’t disappoint Canadians today and in the future.”

TRUMP DOESN’T BELIEVE HE’LL LEAVE OFFICE Trump continues to mock Trudeau, stating, “Believe it or not, despite the terrible job he’s done for Canada, I think Justin Trudeau is using the Customs Duty issue, for which he is responsible, to run for Prime Minister again. It’s very entertaining to watch!” The next election in Canada will be held no later than October 20, 2025.
