The toll is increasing from the severe storms and tornadoes hitting the central and southern parts of the US. The number of fatalities has risen to 7, with 13 others injured.
Severe storms sweeping through some states in the US have resulted in the loss of 7 lives as reported initially. Of the deaths, 5 were in Tennessee, while the others were recorded in Indiana and Missouri. At least 13 people were also injured. Throughout the night, tornadoes continued to affect 6 states, including Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. In the last 24 hours, over 30 tornadoes have been identified in the region stretching from Arkansas to Ohio. As of Thursday evening, it was revealed that 150,000 homes and businesses were left without power. Michigan and Indiana were reportedly the states most affected by the power outages. The tornadoes toppled power lines, trees, train cars, and vehicles, causing the destruction of a church and a warehouse. Significant damage occurred to homes in the area.
