An airplane carrying 3 individuals seriously injured in the nightclub fire that claimed the lives of 59 people in North Macedonia has taken off for Istanbul. The ambulance plane belonging to the Ministry of Health, transporting the 3 seriously injured individuals from the nightclub fire in the city of Kocani in eastern North Macedonia, has departed for Istanbul. Turkey’s Ambassador to Skopje, Fatih Ulusoy, was present at Skopje International Airport where the transfer took place. After the transfer of the injured, the ambulance plane headed towards Istanbul for treatment, which will be carried out at the Basaksehir Cam and Sakura City Hospital. Following a pyrotechnic material causing the fire at the nightclub in Kocani, located about 100 kilometers from the capital Skopje, on March 16 at 03:00 local time, 59 people lost their lives and over 170 were injured. 9 of the injured had previously been transferred to Istanbul and Ankara for treatment via ambulance planes sent by Turkey. Subsequent investigations revealed that the nightclub was operating without proper licensing, leading to an investigation into 26 individuals, including former Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi. The North Macedonian government declared a national mourning period of 7 days in the country in the aftermath of the incident. Additionally, the Mayor of Kocani, Ljupco Papazov, resigned following the tragedy.
