The COVID-19 pandemic has led to radical changes in daily life; our ways of ordering food, going to work, and socializing have changed. A study conducted in the US revealed that the time spent at home has significantly changed with the pandemic. Experts emphasized that this transformation is closely linked to the widespread adoption of remote work. The world has changed a lot since the COVID-19 outbreak. Many of these changes, from the way we order food to how we go to work and socialize, have had lasting effects on our daily lives. According to a study published in the peer-reviewed Journal of the American Planning Association, the time spent at home has increased significantly following the COVID-19 pandemic. The team, which examined a 20-year period starting in 2003, compared the time spent outside the home to the time spent inside after the pandemic. They observed a decrease in the time spent outside, particularly from 2019 onwards. It was noted that the time spent on activities outside the home decreased by about 1 hour per day from that date. The consistency in the time spent at home in 2022 and 2023 suggests that the pandemic may have had a lasting impact. The study also identified a decrease of about 12 minutes in the time spent on daily travel. This change has affected individuals and society in many fields, from psychology to sociology and economics. Experts suggest that this change is linked to the pandemic-induced shift of many workplaces to remote work.
