According to the 8-point agreement, the Kurdish community will receive constitutional guarantees as part of Syria. Border crossings, oil, and gas fields will come under the control of the Syrian state. All threats to Syria’s security and unity will be combated together. The terms of the ceasefire agreement were shared with the world. The entirety of Syria will now be governed by the Syrian government forces united under one roof. Seen as a historic development, the agreement has made major waves in the global press. Particularly, the American media highlighted the developments stemming from Turkey’s counter-terrorism operation. “A NEW ERA IS BEGINNING IN SYRIA” The New York Times underscored in its report announcing the terms of the agreement that a new era is beginning in Syria. The NYT emphasized that this development follows the call for laying down arms by the PKK terrorist organization last week. The newspaper once again addressed the comprehensive promises of the new leadership in Syria to create an inclusive government. The broadcasting network CNN dubbed the development as a “historic agreement.” It was reported that the agreement will be implemented by the end of the year.
