The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights based in London stated that at least 1383 civilians lost their lives in the violent incidents of the past few days, with a large majority of the deceased being Alevi.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that at least 1383 civilians lost their lives during four days of clashes between security forces and forces loyal to the ousted Assad in Latakia and Tartus.
It was reported that most of the lifeless bodies were found in agricultural lands or residences.
The latest casualties were recorded in the coastal provinces of Latakia and Tartus, along with neighboring Hama.
According to official figures, at least 231 security personnel lost their lives in the clashes, while according to the Observatory, 250 members of Assad’s forces died.
Syrian President Ahmed Shara stated that the incidents in Syria were caused by pro-Assad groups, but also emphasized that revenge killings were committed, saying, “We will not allow those shedding blood, even if they are our closest ones, to go unpunished.”
