Symptoms Ignored: 35-Year-Old Woman Suddenly Dies 3 Days Later

2 Mins Read

Kerry Joanne Wilkins, a 35-year-old resident of Essex, England, passed away suddenly within just three days despite not having any chronic health issues. Diagnosed with liver failure, Wilkins was taken to the hospital, where her family considers the process as a “chain of negligence” and demands a thorough investigation. Last May, Wilkins sought medical attention for fever, skin redness, and vomiting but allegedly waited for six hours without being properly examined. While tests revealed a significant deterioration in liver functions, she was only treated with intravenous fluids, morphine, and anti-nausea medication at the hospital. Kerry’s sister, Jessica Matilda Wilkins, expressed her outrage, saying, “Kerry was healthy at 35. We thought she would pull through. But everything went wrong during her hospital stay. She needed a liver transplant, and we don’t know why it wasn’t done.” Jessica also mentioned that despite Kerry’s rapid deterioration, healthcare workers remained unresponsive, even suggesting that it was normal when communication was difficult. Moreover, Jessica suspected toxic shock syndrome due to tampon use while Kerry was menstruating at the hospital, but stated that nurses did not conduct any checks on this issue. She expressed, “I asked for help, but no one came. Kerry looked at me with her eyes asking for help. She fell to the floor, but no one assisted me in getting her back to bed.” The family requested antibiotic treatment from doctors before Kerry’s passing, but they preferred to wait, stating, “We want to see how she reacts to other medications first.” However, after Kerry lost consciousness and was admitted to the intensive care unit, the family’s recommended combination of antibiotics was administered. Describing her late sister, Jessica said, “She was the life and soul of the party. Everyone loved her, and she loved everyone. When she entered a room, she lit it up. Losing her is like losing my right arm.” An official investigation regarding Kerry Wilkins’ sudden death is scheduled for October 23rd. The family seeks clarity on the negligence allegations in the investigation and wants to uncover the cause of Kerry’s death.
