2 Mins Read

Discussions continue between Israel and Hamas on advancing the ceasefire in Gaza to its second stage. According to a survey conducted in Israel, 44% of the population believe that negotiations should continue for the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza, while only 9% think that attacks should resume in Gaza.

The Israeli state television channel KAN released a survey regarding the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza, as well as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ongoing corruption case. According to KAN’s survey, nearly half of the participants believe that Israel should continue the ceasefire and the prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza, while only 9% expressed the opinion that attacks on the Gaza Strip should continue without the release of Israeli prisoners. The support for extending the ceasefire plan announced by US President Donald Trump’s Special Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff and adopted by Israel during the Ramadan month and the Jewish festival of Passover (April 12-20) remained at 34%. 13% of the survey participants reported being undecided.

SECOND STAGE TALKS HAVE NOT STARTED It is stated that Israel has hindered the negotiations for the second stage of the agreement that was supposed to begin on February 3. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prefers to extend the first stage of the Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement until the end of the Ramadan month instead of advancing to the second stage. 41% BELIEVE NETANYAHU IS UNSUITABLE FOR THE PRIME MINISTERIAL ROLE Participants in the survey conducted by Israeli state television KAN were also asked about their views on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s corruption case. Accordingly, 41% of the participants support declaring Netanyahu unfit to carry out the prime ministerial duties while his corruption case is ongoing, while 28% of the participants support suspending the corruption case until Israel’s attacks on Gaza are completely over. 18% of the survey participants believe that Netanyahu’s corruption case should be completely dropped, while 13% remain undecided. Netanyahu is being tried on charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three separate corruption cases known as “Case 1000,” “Case 2000,” and “Case 4000.”
