A tragic accident occurred on the shores of West Sumatra in Indonesia. While surfing, 36-year-old Italian surfer Giulia Manfrini was impaled by a swordfish on her chest and despite all efforts, could not be saved.
Italian surfer Giulia Manfrini lost her life as a result of being impaled by a swordfish while surfing.
Manfrini was surfing on the shores of West Sumatra in Indonesia when the swordfish impaled her on the chest.
Local authorities stated in their announcement that despite all interventions, Manfrini lost her life.
Messages of condolences were shared on social media for Manfrini, who was both a surfing instructor and the founder of surfing travel agency AWAVE. In a statement from AWAVE, it was mentioned that “Giulia was surfing in Indonesia and had a strange accident. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the doctors, she could not be saved. We believe that she died doing what she loved, in a place she loved.”
