In the suicide attacks on a military facility in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 12 people, including 4 children, were killed, and 30 others were wounded.
Yesterday, during the iftar hour in Bannu region, suicide attacks using bomb-laden vehicles were carried out near a military area where security forces’ offices and homes are located. As a result of the attacks, 12 people, including 4 children, lost their lives, while 30 others were injured. The attackers trying to enter the military area were also killed in the clashes. Due to the intensity of the explosions, some houses in the area were reported to have their roofs and walls collapsed, with people trapped under the debris. According to Dawn newspaper, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif condemned the attack, stating that “Cowardly terrorists targeting innocent civilians during the holy month of Ramadan deserve no tolerance.” The attack was claimed by the Pakistan Taliban. TERRORISM ISSUE IN PAKISTAN Violence in Pakistan is concentrated, especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan. Armed groups claiming to defend the rights of Pashtun and Baloch ethnic groups in both provinces carry out attacks against Pakistani security forces and civilians. Islamabad argues that the Pakistan Taliban (TTP) is based in Afghanistan and organizes its attacks from there, while the Afghan government denies these allegations. In Balochistan, BLA attacks are prominent. BLA advocates for the separation of Balochistan from Pakistan and demands that the Baloch people govern the region.
