The thief, Jaythan Gilder, was reported to have acted like an assistant to a basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in order to see the special collection jewelry in the jewelry store he entered. The statement mentioned that this person then distracted the officials and fled with earrings worth about 769,000 dollars and a ring worth 575,000 dollars.
The statement conveyed that Gilder, who fled in his car, was apprehended shortly after. It was noted in the statement that during Gilder’s X-ray examination, it was determined that the stolen earrings were in his stomach, and that the thief was kept under observation in the hospital for days. The statement also shared that the earrings, removed from the thief’s body through natural means and confirmed by authorities, were returned to the store.
