In Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index gained 0.21 percent in the first half of the day, rising to 8,964 points. Moving in an upward trend in the first half of the day, the BIST 100 index increased by 18.56 points to 8,964.35 points as of 13.00 compared to the previous close. The total trading volume was 30.1 billion Turkish lira. The banking index gained 0.47 percent, while the holding index gained 0.33 percent. Among the sector indices, the information sector gained the most with 2.37 percent, while the metal goods machinery sector declined the most by 0.41 percent. In the global markets, investors displayed a cautious stance ahead of a busy data schedule to be followed for the rest of the week, with today’s focus on the growth and private sector employment data to be announced in the U.S. Analysts stated that intensive data agenda including inflation in Germany, growth, and ADP private sector employment in the U.S. would be monitored abroad today, mentioning that technically, the levels of 9,000 and 9,100 are resistance, and 8,900 and 8,800 points are in the support position for the BIST 100 index.
