The BIST 100 index started the day in Borsa Istanbul with a 6.87% decrease, opening at 10,060 points. Following losses exceeding 5% at the opening, the circuit breaker was activated.

In Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index started the day with a 6.87% decrease, reaching 10,060 points.

After a sharp decline in the index, the circuit breaker system was activated at 09:55, temporarily halting transactions.

The banking index lost 7.02% and the holding index fell by 6.69%. While all sector indices declined, the communication sector was the biggest loser at 7.56%. In the domestic market, the BIST 100 index closed the day with a 0.55% decrease at 10,802.23 points, following a sales-heavy trend yesterday.

Moreover, it was decided to implement the uptick rule in short selling transactions for shares included in the BIST 50 index for one day. Analysts noted that technically the BIST 100 index has support levels at 10,000 and 9,900, with resistance at 10,100 and 10,200 points.
