Stock exchange closed with a decrease

The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul ended the day losing 1.41% at 9,523.31 points. The index dropped 136.17 points, with a total trading volume of 92.5 billion Turkish lira. While the banking index gained 0.38%, the holding index lost 1.88%. The sports sector was the highest gainer with a 4.74% increase, while the construction sector was the biggest loser with a 2.54% decrease. Global markets showed a mixed performance amid ongoing uncertainty over the tariffs expected to be announced by US President Donald Trump today. Tomorrow, domestic inflation data will be followed along with the European Central Bank (ECB) meeting minutes, the Producer Price Index (PPI) in the Eurozone, and the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) in the service sectors of the US and Europe. Technically, the BIST 100 index has resistance levels at 9,600 and 9,700, and support levels at 9,400 and 9,300 points. According to the AA Finance Inflation Expectations Survey, economists predict a 2.87% increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in March. Based on the average expectation for March inflation (2.87%), economists foresee a decrease in the annual inflation from 39.05% to 38.66%, with the year-end 2025 inflation expectation reaching 30.62% as of March.
