St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations in the USA: Chicago River Turns Green

1 Mins Read

In the United States, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations have begun. In the city of Chicago, the river in the downtown area was dyed green as it is done every year. Chicago, known as the “Windy City,” is home to many Irish immigrants. The river in the downtown area was dyed green with a special dye this year as well. It was reported that the dye used is a natural substance and does not harm the river ecosystem. The tradition of dyeing the river green has been repeated for 70 years. Irish people from all over the world celebrate on March 17 every year to honor St. Patrick, the clergyman who brought Christianity to their country. The traditional slogan of the celebrations is known as “Today everyone is Irish.”
