Sharp Decline in Borsa Istanbul

The selling pressure in global markets was also felt in Borsa Istanbul. The BIST 100 index started the week with a 2.80% decline. The BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul began the week with a 2.80% drop, starting at 9,117.38 points. At the opening, the BIST 100 index decreased to 9,117.38 points, down 262.45 points and 2.80% from the previous close. The banking index lost 3.61% and the holding index lost 2.80% in value. While all sector indices declined, banking suffered the most losses. Yesterday, the BIST 100 index in Borsa Istanbul followed a selling trend domestically, ending the day at 9,379.83 points, losing 1.10% in value. In global markets, the selling pressure intensified into the new week following the reciprocal tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. Analysts mentioned that today the weekly money and bank statistics domestically, news related to U.S. tariffs abroad, the Sentix investor confidence index in the Eurozone, and retail sales will be closely monitored. From a technical standpoint, support levels for the BIST 100 index are at 9,100 and 9,000, with resistance at 9,200 and 9,300 points.
