The intense rainfall and storm in the Aegean Sea also struck the Greek islands. Streets turned into lakes on Paros island. Many Greek islands had to pause education. Flash floods dragged cars, flooded homes, and blocked roads. All of this happened within two hours. Storms and floods hit Greece’s tourist islands. In the fishing village of Naoussa on Paros island, homes and businesses were flooded after a stream overflowed. The flood dragged about 40 vehicles and turned streets into lakes. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries from the flood. However, the financial damage is significant. The mayor of Paros said that heavy machinery was needed to clear the roads. Similar images came from the tourist island of Mykonos. Authorities urged residents, especially on Paros and Mykonos, not to leave their homes. As a precaution, many islands also paused education. The National Meteorological Service warns that the storm, reaching speeds of up to 74 kilometers per hour, will continue to have an impact. In September, the Daniel storm hit Greece, causing the death of 17 people.
