The main topic in the US is the accidental sharing of attack on Yemen and war plans through a messaging app to a journalist. US National Security Advisor Waltz has taken full responsibility for the scandal.
National Security Advisor Waltz, during his appearance on Fox News, evaluated the incident of the leakage of Yemen war plans that caused debates among the public. Waltz, stating that he takes full responsibility for the incident, used the phrase “Yes, it’s embarrassing, we will investigate the incident.”
ELON MUSK TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT Waltz mentioned that he didn’t know how the US journalist Goldberg got involved in the group and stated that he had consulted with US President Donald Trump’s senior advisor Elon Musk to investigate the incident. Denying any acquaintance with Goldberg, Waltz said he didn’t realize his presence in the group. Waltz stated that there were no secret information in the conversations, but he would still prefer those conversations not to be shared. WAR PLANS IN THE MESSAGING GROUP US journalist Goldberg was accidentally included in a messaging chain where war plans in Yemen were discussed. In an article titled “Trump administration mistakenly sent war plans to me via messages,” Goldberg explained that he was first added to a Signal group with national security officials, then in a message sent by Hegseth, details about attacks on Yemen were discussed. Goldberg mentioned that US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz contacted him on Signal on March 11 and invited him to join a messaging chain named “Houthi PC Small Group” two days later to discuss attacks against Husis in Yemen. Goldberg used the expressions “US national security officials included me in a group chat about upcoming military attacks in Yemen. At first, I didn’t think it was real. Eventually, the bombs started to fall.” White House National Security Council Spokesperson Brian Hughes confirmed the incident.
TRUMP DEFENDED THE ADVISOR
American President Donald Trump, mentioned that Waltz did not need to apologize for, claiming that no confidential information about the attacks was shared in the group. Trump also alleged that Waltz’s colleague added the journalist to the chat group. Trump also stated that there was no information about Houthi attacks in the mentioned group.
